Radji

A film by Georg Götmark & John Erling Utsi

The documentary is set in the far north of Sweden and Norway, where a conflict over land and borders seem to be eternally ongoing. Simon and Beatrice Marainen and their three children are part of an indigenous Sami semi-nomadic community of reindeer herders who have traditionally always moved freely across northern Scandinavia, following the natural movement of their herds. Today, however, nationalism, bureaucracy and politics threaten their traditional way of life.

After a history of colonisation, the indigenous Sami people in the northernmost parts of Sweden and Norway are fighting for the rights and freedom to use their ancestral land.
