KALTARUNY, BELARUS

Lena is waiting to get back home. Being expelled from Belarus for her human rights work, she was forced to spend three years abroad in exile. Ironically, very close to the border – in Vilnius, which is only 30 km away, but how painful is that distance when you are not allowed to be in your own place. Going on a trip near the border, she could almost see her house and the surrounding countryside that she loves so much, but only through the fence.

The time has come for her to return, and the wait is now even more tense. What will home be and feel like after three years?
