Vytautas Jusys works at the Ventės Ragas Ornithological Station. He is a very proud Lithuanian citizen and skeptical towards the politics of his Russian neighbours. He is incredibly passionate about the birds and ringing them. Vytautas claims that in three years he will break the record of his predecessor Leonas, who ringed around 700,000 birds. He enjoys guiding visitors and is very proud of his work. Oftentimes, he likes to mock his Russian colleagues a little: “we ring more birds because we have better nets and we work harder”. He also asks his visitors: “what is the problem if the birds fly to the other side?”. Usually they are all silent and he replies: “they don’t have Russian visas!”
